Windguru forecasts for your website
New version of webmaster forecasts available! This is the recommended method of adding Windguru to your site now. It's very easy... simply copy and paste piece of HTML code to your site and you are done. You are allowed to show forecasts for up to 10 different spots per website (domain). The forecast is based on GFS and NWW3 models.
Get the forecast code here!
If this does not work for you for some reason the previous methods of including forecasts are still available:
Old version...
Linking to Windguru
If you are interested in placing windguru forecasts to your website consider using a simple link to windguru.cz first... It is the easiest way to provide your visitors with forecasts. You can use this link generator to link directly to specific forecasts. Feel free to place links anywhere to your site. I'll be glad if you put a windguru logo nearby (you can use this windguru image to create a smaller logo or icon)
IFRAME or PHP script forecast
If linking to windguru.cz is not exactly what you want, you can include GFS / NWW3 based forecasts directly to your webpage. This service is free, you only need to be registered user. You can use both public or custom spot forecasts. Forecasts look almost the same as on windguru.cz and show up-to 72 hour (3 days) forecasts. Example:

How it works
First, you configure the forecasts in user settings. After that you can display the forecasts on your webpage by placing them into IFRAME or by using a PHP script. Forecast is now available in these languages: Basque (baq), Bulgarian (bg), Catalan (cat), Czech (cz), Danish (dk), Dutch (nl), English (en), Estonian (ee), Finnish (fi), French (fr), Galician (gl), German (de), Hungarian (hu), Italian (it), Latvian (lv), Lithuanian (lt), Polish (pl), Portuguese (pt), Romanian (ro), Russian (ru), Spanish (es), Swedish (se), Turkish (tr)
Configuring
Go to your user settings - "10) Forecasts for your website". Before you start configuring you need to provide your website URL and email. It's necessary for me to know where the forecasts are used or in case I have to contact you. In the options you can choose variables which will display, wind and temperature units, visible hours and limit maximum length of forecast. You can see a preview right in the settings. Most options are pretty clear, here are some notes:
- "Matomos valandos" - with this you can hide night hours for example...
- "Maks. prognozės trukmė" - limits the length of forecast, maximum is 72 hours (3 day forecast), minimum 12 hours.
- "Daugiausiai stulpelių" - limits maximum number of columns in the forecast table, maximum 24 (full 72 hour forecast with all visible hours)
- All these options influence total width of the forecast table and all apply together (like AND operator). Choose the best combination to fit into your webpage.
You can configure up to 10 forecasts. Then you need to decide what method of including the forecast you will use:
IFRAME method
This method is only designed for low traffic websites, if you have many visitors you could easily overload windguru webserver by using IFRAME forecasts. You have been WARNED, if I see your iframe is causing problems I'll take action... The right IFRAME URL is displayed at the configured forecast.
PHP script method
Recommended. You will download and install a special PHP script, this script includes the forecast directly into your PHP page. It's a little more complicated method but still very easy if you have some basic PHP experience. The main advantage of this is that it protects windguru server from overloading. Script caches the forecasts and only contacts windguru.cz when necessary.
- Requirements:
- PHP support
- MySQL or PostgreSQL or at least one writable directory for caching the forecasts.
- Download:
- windguru-1.7.tar.gz (15.5 KB)
- windguru-1.7.zip (22.9 KB)
- Installation: Read the README.txt for details.
